We love it when people write about us, perhaps it is because it is almost always positive. Below you will find some things that Laurie Higgins wrote in the January 27th edition of the Cape Cod Times:

Husband-and-wife team Rik and Caren Morse have created a cozy little eatery at Zia Pizzeria & Café in the Windmill Plaza in East Orleans. The Tuscany-inspired décor with tall booths, copper topped tables and antique appliances is warm and inviting and the food, all made from scratch, is delicious and affordable.

The menu includes artisan pizzas, calzones, specialty sandwiches and salads, homemade soups and a “pasta classic” winter value menu item each night. We decided to try a little bit of everything and the plastic forks were flying as we sampled each other's food.
The chicken and wild rice stew ($3.50 a cup) was as hearty as the name suggested with bits of tender chicken, chunks of carrots and plenty of wild rice to stick to your ribs. A blend of herbs added nice flavor, but it needed a little extra salt. The accompanying corn muffin was moist and sweet.
I'm a sucker for a Cuban sandwich and for $7.95, Zia's did not disappoint. The ciabatta roll was piled high with tender pork, sliced ham, Swiss cheese, piquant slices of dill pickles, and spicy mango mustard. The accompanying red-and-green cabbage slaw with shredded carrots was slightly sweet and truly delicious. The sandwich also came with a bag of Cape Cod Potato Chips.
We brought my mother to dinner and she ordered the “Down on the Farm” pizza ($14 for a small, $19 for a large). The crust was thin and chewy with a delightful crunch of cornmeal. It was a red pizza topped with chicken, applewood smoked bacon and mozzarella cheese and then drizzled with ranch dressing. She enjoyed it so much, she declared it her new favorite pizza spot.
The enormous meatball calzone ($7.95) our son ordered received a similar rave. The crust was awesome

Owner operated, husband & wife team Rik & Caren Morse are the driving creative force behind the concept & execution of what is now , after 2 brief years one of the area's most interesting & bustling new resturaunts ZIA PIZZERIA & CAFE.

Walk in this comfortable & casually upscale eatery & you will marvel at the antique maps & old fashioned resturaunt equipment decorating the interior. The staff greets you & assists you in your selections cheerfully, & can answer your inquires with enthusiastic knowledge of the menu.

Rik & Caren are on the premise continously , guiding the guests thru the dinning experience. They know the names of most the customers & their preferences. The owners fully realize the value of a dollar during these stressful times & make Zia an economiclal as well as enjoyable experience.

The Morse's first came to cape code after meeting (& courting!) on romantic Nantucket island. After operating the Chatham Bakery for 5 years they took some time off, had a baby & were married. They could not find good pizza on the cape so they decided to make it themselves!! Cren is an accomplished pastry chef & brings 20 years of hard work & experience to the table. Her doughs & breads As well as , of course, her desserts are distinctive and accliamed by Zia's loyal following. She is quite a babe also!

Rik's strengths lie in understanding all the subtle components that make eating out... fun! Its a reaxing atmosphere, interesting & groovy music, attentive & caring service & the anticipation & delivery of a great meal at a good value. We thank you for comming & appreciate you choosing ZIA. WE hope to see you all again soon!

"...their whole-wheat veggie pie is delicious, as are the salads, and the service is great."
